Always waiting for the other shoe to drop?

blog (1)

I’ve been doing a lot of inner work over the last couple of months on expanding my ability to have and enjoy what I want from life.

Specifically slowness, love, freedom to be myself, life on my terms, safety and security.

What’s been coming up for me is how unsafe it feels to actually have what I want…

Reverberating around my nervous system is a saying I heard a lot as a kid “Don’t get too excited then you won’t be disappointed”!

My nervous system is always braced for the good things to be taken away – you know that feeling of always waiting for the other shoe to drop!

When it feels good, my body is anticipating the disappointment I was programmed to expect.

This can show up as me sabotaging good things – I will make it go away before it’s taken away as subconsciously this makes me feel like I have more control…

Or I block the things I want coming to me in the first place – again a subconscious attempt to control not losing things or people I desire.

Today in our monthly Radiant Woman Breathwork session I was able to notice the physical bracing in my body – how I clench and stiffen repeatedly. It’s been an unconscious holding pattern.

This awareness gifts me the ability to consciously release and relax my body whilst offering my nervous system reassurance.

This is part of ‘the work’ we do to break limiting habits and free ourselves to be who we truly are inside Radiant Woman.
