It’s no wonder I was miserable…

I used to focus on what was missing from my life and what I didn’t have –

A boyfriend
A better car
The body I wanted
More money

I could have gone on forever!

The problem with focusing on what I didn’t have is it left me feeling like I never had enough…

At the start of the year I embarked on a daily gratitude practice.

Every night before I go to sleep I write a list of things I’m grateful for. I started with three but I’m up seven a day now.

I include the little things such as the food in my fridge, my warm bed, my legs and my eyes. Things many of us take for granted but are not so available to others.

I’ve come to really appreciate things I didn’t pay much attention to before like sunshine and laughter.

I’ve found that by focusing on what I’m grateful for that my perspective of each day and my life as a whole has changed.

By appreciating the smaller things I’ve found even greater joy in the bigger things.

My overall happiness and fulfilment in life has increased ten fold and I no longer feel like I don’t have enough.

Where is your focus?
