Is anxiety always obvious?

Is anxiety always obvious?

Looking back I can see that I had high functioning anxiety but at the time I had no awareness of it at all.

You see I thought anxiety was panic attacks, heart palpitations, shortness of breath and shaking and I didn’t have those.

For me the anxiety showed up in other ways that I hadn’t recognised as anxiety –

Procrastination

Worrying

Overthinking

Perfectionism

Poor concentration

Difficulty sleeping

An inability to rest

Irritability

Tense muscles

Fatigue

Unhappiness

All of which I put down to other things or just accepted as the way I was.

In the beginning the anxiety was actually useful…

It was a driving force behind my success in asset management.

The anxiety motivated me and pushed me to be the best I could be.

It was useful until it wasn’t anymore!

There was a turning point where the anxiety that once drove my functionality, became too much and started to hinder it.

The more my functionality declined the more anxiety I had.

Eventually I reached a state of complete burnout.

Having been through this journey and come out the other side thriving, I now help women to recognise and understand the workings of their own mind.

I help them to kick anxiety in the butt and take back their power.

I help them to function at a high level from a place of self love and confidence.
