Let’s talk about anxiety…

Are you one of the 1 in 13 people worldwide that suffer?

I suspect right now that number has increased with all the uncertainty and health worries.

Many of us lived stressful lives anyway and this is additional pressure.

I’m speaking to more and more people who are feeling overwhelmed with it all.

For a variety of reasons, like being a single person on lock down and feeling lonely and isolated.

Feeling the pressure to do your job effectively from whilst also home schooling the kids.

Perhaps there’s tensions over whether it’s you or your partner that works and it’s becoming tense trying to find a suitable compromise.

Perhaps with everyone being home all the time you’re feeling overwhelmed with the lack of headspace to think.

Maybe you’re worried about keeping you and your family safe.

I’ve suffered with anxiety myself in the past and it’s not nice. Here’s a few things I found helpful –

Lavender essential oil and magnesium are both great at taking the edge off.

Getting some regular exercise and eating a diet rich in calcium and omega 3 helps as does avoiding too much caffeine and other stimulants.

Breathing techniques like those used in meditation and yoga are useful for helping to switch off the stress response.

The body really thrives with a regular routine, so eating and sleeping at the same sort of times.

Journaling about your thoughts and worries is a great way to get them out of your head.

Let me know if these help and if you have any tips to share please do.
