She couldn’t remember the last time she laughed…!
In session with a wonderful client this morning it came to light that my client is experiencing a distinct absence of fun and laughter.
I should mention she’s in a state of burnout and therefore not feeling her best.
She’s pretty in her head with anxious thoughts triggering the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline, which perpetuates the burnout…
The counter to this is more fun and laughter to trigger feel good hormones like serotonin.
Together we helped her remember and create new ways to have fun, smile and laugh, all within what she feels able to do right now.
And I’m pleased to say that whilst when we started the session her energy was pretty flat, we ended with her smiling and laughing. I could see she looked visibly lighter and she said she felt so too.
There is real substance to the old saying… Laughter is the best medicine.
You owe it to yourself to give yourself a daily dose of it.
